LEADING ARCHITECTS COME TOGETHER TO DISCUSS THE EFFECTS OF TALL BUILDINGS ON THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT AND THE URBAN LANDSCAPE

Tuesday 16th March 2010, MIPIM, CANNES – Today some of the world’s leading architects joined Paul Finch, Chairman of CABE and Director of the World Architecture Festival, at the annual Architecture Review/Protek Roundtable debate to discuss the effects of tall buildings on the built environment and the urban landscape.

The debate examined how the winning entries in the Tall Buildings category of the Architectural Review Future Project Awards are influencing thinking in sustainable design. Paul Finch commented: “Tall buildings, or at least the best of them, are becoming exercises in creative thinking not just about space and volume, but about energy and the general urban realm”.

The roundtable forum is part of the 2010 Architectural Review Future Projects Awards scheme and is co-hosted by the sponsor of the Tall Buildings category WM Protek AB.

Jackie Blanden, Export Sales Director, WM Protek AB said: “The Award winners clearly show a quality of leadership around sustainability and demonstrate an ethical consideration in what they do. In a market that is changing very fast we put people at the heart of our own thought process, connecting with architects allows us to take on board and understand the design choices they are making when meeting the growing demand for more energy efficient buildings”.
